Club Dorado, 2014

We're concerned to learn about guests falling ill with gastric symptoms while on holiday at the Club Dorado, Turkey in June 2014.

Our International Personal Injury team have been contacted by a group of seven who visited the Club Dorado in June 2014 to enjoy their first holiday together. Unfortunately the group report that all seven members of the group, including a child, suffered with symptoms of diarrhoea and stomach cramps, with some members of the group also suffering nausea and flu like symptoms.

The holidaymakers reported a number of unhygienic and concerning practices, including a staff member brushing his teeth in the same sink which was being used to clean glasses, as well as at times stray cats walking over the buffet tables containing food, crockery and cutlery. The holidaymakers also report that they were extremely concerned to see that food was on occasions left out uncovered in hot conditions and that food was served lukewarm at times. Other food also appeared to have been undercooked, for example the chicken which they report was pink in the middle.

Additionally the group advised that they were concerned to note that new buffet food would be placed on top of the old food. The holidaymakers reported a general lack of cleanliness with a littered pool area, unclean toilets, and rooms that were not regularly cleaned.

Gastric symptoms can range from mild diarrhoea to abdominal cramps and blood in stools. Having significant experience in assisting those unfortunate enough to contract gastric illness, we know first-hand the potential long term conditions that can be associated with it, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
