Royal Wings Hotel

Recent reports have highlighted Irwin Mitchell to a variety of issues at the Royal Wings Hotel, in Turkey, resulting in holidaymakers returning with symptoms of gastric illness. Most recent reports are dated May 2011.

Irwin Mitchell was instructed to act on behalf of a group of clients who suffered from similar symptoms of illness following their holidays in 2008. It is alarming to learn that hygiene procedures have not been improved.

The hotel, which is part of Thomas Cook's Aquamarina programme offering slides, a variety of pools and family fun, is located opposite the Lara Beach and is rated as a five star hotel offering 465 rooms. It is reported that holidaymakers have returned from their holidays experiencing symptoms of gastric illness, often including stomach cramps, diarrhoea and lethargy, and that positive stool samples have been returned, showing Salmonella infection.

Salmonella is a form of bacteria which is often contracted from contaminated food or drink. This form of food poisoning is associated with severe gastric symptoms and can lead to permanent bowel disorders in more serious cases.

The nature of the symptoms experienced by holidaymakers and the fact that Salmonella has been identified would potentially indicate that there has been failings in food hygiene and food handling procedures at the hotel.
