Illness Outbreak on Isle of Wight

The International Travel Litigation team at Irwin Mitchell is concerned for children after reading reports of illness on the Isle of Wight.

A public health investigation has been launched following an outbreak of food poisoning in Sandown. The outbreak has caused around 30 children to be struck down over the past two weeks by one of the most common forms of food poisoning, campylobacter.

Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach pains, which can last for up to five days.

The source of the outbreak has not been confirmed, but is subject to an ongoing investigation by the Isle of Wight Council and the Health Protection Agency.

If you have travelled to Isle of Wight and suffered from some of the above symptoms, Irwin Mitchell would like to hear from you as you may be able to claim for your pain and suffering caused by the illness that you sustained.

For more advice on making a holiday illness claim, contact Irwin Mitchell on 0800 056 0066 or complete our enquiry form and we will call you back.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
