Letchworth Hall Hotel, Hertfordshire
The International Travel Litigation team Irwin Mitchell, which specialises in cases of food poisoning in the UK and abroad, is concerned for guests at the Letchworth Hall Hotel in Hertfordshire after 49 guests at a wedding party reportedly fell ill after a meal in September 2011.
It has been reported that 22 cases have been confirmed as campylobacter which included the bride and the groom who fell ill on their honeymoon in Vegas. Guests at the hotel who have suffered with illness were reported to have symptoms such as stomach cramps and diarrhoea.
It is reported that North Herts District Council received the initial complaint 5 days after the wedding at the beginning of September following which two environmental health officers visited the hotel to investigate.
It has been reported that the environmental health officers established that the Chef at the Letchworth Lane hotel had cooked the chicken livers to 60◦c, which was reported to be in breach of the hotel policy and also reported to be in breach of the Foods Standards Agency guidelines.
It is reported that the hotel have admitted undercooking the liver pate.
