Thermal Burns at the Four Seasons Spa, Turkey
Irwin Mitchell has been instructed to act on behalf of a client who was injured during a visit to the Four Seasons Hotel and Spa Bosphorus in Turkey on the 2nd June 2011.
Our client was visiting the Four Seasons Spa as he had been treated to a deep tissue massage by one of his close friends. Upon arriving at the hotel, our client and his friend were shown to the spa and were asked to make use of the facilities available while their treatment was being arranged.
Our client and his friend chose to relax in the steam room. Our client noticed that there were no warning signs or directions for use of the steam room. He was sat in the steam room for approximately 25 minutes before leaving to have the deep tissue massage. During the massage, the treatment provider asked if he was alright as she had noticed that his right foot had turned very red.
After the massage, our client showered, which was when he realised all was not right with his foot. He noticed that his right foot was very red and the skin had changed in appearance. He also noticed that his toe nails had movement, appearing loose, which was not a problem before arriving at the Spa.
The following day, our client returned to the UK, as he had planned. Throughout the day and his flight home, his foot was troubling him all the more. The pain was gradually increasing. He was therefore driven directly from Heathrow Airport to the University College Hospital in London. He was then transferred to a Specialist Burns Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.
Our client had sustained severe thermal burns to his right foot and has undergone a number of operations since the incident. It was feared that his right toes were going to have to be amputated and he has recently undergone several skin grafts.
The specialist travel litigation team at Irwin Mitchell are investigating a case against the Four Seasons hotel, the head office of which is located in Canada.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
