Woman Slips On Wet Flooring Whilst On Holiday In Mexico

Irwin Mitchell were instructed by a British lady who was injured whilst on holiday in Mexico, staying at the Eldorado Royal in the Riviera Maya Resort.

What Happened?
On the afternoon of 11th June 2012, Mrs Carney had walked to the toilet block by the swimming pool and subsequently slipped on the marble flooring at the toilet entrance. The flooring was wet and muddy from swimmers entering the toilet block. Whilst trying to stand up, Mrs Carney slipped again.

How Did This Affect Mrs Carney?
Mrs Carney was seen by the resort doctor before being taken to the local hospital to receive treatment. She unfortunately suffered a fracture to her right wrist, which required pins. As a result of the fall, she is subsequently unable to carry out many of the activities that she was able to before the accident.

How Is Irwin Mitchell Handling Mrs Carney's Case?
As the holiday was booked as a package holiday, it is being dealt with under the Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992 and the claim is therefore being brought against the tour operator. Irwin Mitchell has secured an agreement of liability from the defendant and are now obtaining medical evidence to support the claim.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
