Jewel Of The Seas, RCL

Irwin Mitchell act for 13 people who travelled on the Jewel of the Seas cruise ship, operated by RCL Cruises, in the summer of 2010.

The clients had noticed some initial problems with the ship including delays in being able to board the ship and issues with the plumbing in their cabins. The clients also had various complaints about the quality and preparation of the food that was being served on the ship.

Within a few days of boarding the ship the clients started to fall ill with various gastric symptoms. They suffered with diarrhoea, vomiting and fever just to name some of the symptoms.  The clients were confined to their cabins by staff on the cruise and had to endure extensive waiting times to see the doctor that was on board the ship.

The clients feel that their holiday was completely ruined and had to miss out on various excursions and entertainment that was available on the cruise due to their illness. Many of the clients remained ill for some time after the initial illness and one continues to suffer to this day.
