£20,000 successfully recovered following skiing accident in Canada

We recently successfully recovered £20,000 in compensation for our client who was injured in a skiing accident in Canada. Our client, 35, was an experienced skier and at the time of the accident was on a skiing course training to be a ski instructor.

The accident happened when our client was skiing down the mountain. After having done 3 or 4 downhill turns, another English skier crashed into her from behind, causing the tendons in our client’s right knee to tear.

Liability was denied by the Defendant’s Insurers throughout the case. Nevertheless, we pushed forward with the case, forcefully arguing that the other skier had breached the International Skiing Federation Rules and the Alpine Responsibility Code (the local Canadian skiing regulations).

We were able to advise our client on all the options open to her for pursuing her claim. The claim was ultimately pursued in England. An out of court settlement was successfully negotiated by us for our client with compensation paid of £20,000.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
