Child Injured In Serious Jet Ski Accident

Whilst on holiday with his family in the Bahamas, a young child was involved in an accident whilst riding as a passenger on a Jet Ski.
Whilst travelling alongside the Jet Ski, a boat driven by one of the defendants suddenly turned. The driver of the Jet Ski did not anticipate this turn and he also turned sharply to try and avoid a collision.  Unfortunately, the bow of the boat hit the Jet Ski.  The driver of the Jet Ski was thrown over board and our client hit his head on the bow of the boat and was immediately knocked unconscious.
Our client sustained an open wound to the head; lacerations to his right leg and a depressed skull fracture.  He was taken by air ambulance to hospital and treated by a Neurologist in the Intensive Care Unit. He was subsequently treated in the Intermediate Care Unit, during which time he also suffered from several prolonged seizures.  He now suffers from loss of his field of vision on the left hand side of both eyes.
Although the accident happened in the Bahamas, through the hard work of the personal injury team at Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office we were able to bring the claim in England, as the defendants were English nationals.  After exchanging medical evidence the parties were able to agree a settlement and the case resolved for in excess of £125,000.
