Irwin Mitchell Instructed to act following catastrophic skiing accident in Italy

Irwin Mitchell LLP are currently acting on behalf of Clive Wakeley, 49, a senior Scotland Yard Officer from Middlesex, who fell into a coma after sustaining a number of life threatening injuries whilst involved in a skiing collision when holidaying with his family in Bardonecchia, Italy, in April 2010.

Following the incident, the media reported that the other skier had been twice over the drink drive limit, and that the superintendent had received the full impact of the instructor’s boots to his head as he stood stationary at the bottom of the beginner slope.

To date, and despite months of intense rehabilitation, the father of two still has limited speech; he has lost the use of one arm, is confined to a wheelchair and has been permanently blinded in one eye. Mr. Wakeley now requires a lifetime of care. His wife, Joanne Wakeley, 46, has now been forced to give up her career as a director of sport at a local school to care for him.
