Claim for British tourist after accident in Swimming Pool in Menorca
A British tourist was on holiday in Menorca with his family on 5th October 2003. The Claimant was 14 years of age at the time and was staying as part of a 14 night package holiday with First Choice staying at the Menorca Seaclub Aparthotel.
On 5th October 2003 the Claimant was in the hotel swimming pool playing water polo. Whist he was in the pool he suffered a severe laceration to his right foot caused by a piece of glass at the bottom of the pool. The Claimant immediately came out of the pool and another guest dived in and found a piece of sharp jagged glass at the bottom of the pool close to where the Claimant had been stood.
The Claimant required a number of stitches under local anaesthetic in Menorca and had to spend the remainder of his holiday on crutches. He has been left with a permanent scar on the sole of his foot.
Irwin Mitchell were instructed by the Claimant’s travel insurers and following extensive negotiations with the Defendant’s legal representatives, and following the issue of Court proceedings, were able to agree settlement in January 2010 in the sum of £5750.00.
