Slip in Mexican Amphitheatre

We successfully recovered over £10,000 for our client who sustained injuries in a slipping accident in Mexico.

Our client was attending a show at an amphitheatre in the grounds of her hotel. The theatre had a thatched roof which was not waterproof. It had been raining and our client slipped as he was making his way to his seat.

We maintained that the combination of the thatched roof, lack of handrails and anti–slip devices caused our client to fall and suffer injury. Our client suffered injury to his ribs and a punctured lung but made a very good recovery.

The key question in the case was whether the area in which our client fell complied with local safety standards. We worked with a Mexican colleague to obtain supportive evidence of breach of the local standards. Settlement was successfully negotiated with damages of over £10,000 being recovered for our client.
