Louis Phaethon Beach Club
Thousands of pounds in compensation recovered after 4 year old boy contracts salmonella whilst on holiday at the Louis Phaethon Beach Club in Paphos, Cyprus.
Irwin Mitchell acted for a couple and their two sons following an all inclusive holiday booked with Thomson Holidays to the Louis Phaethon Beach Club Resort in Paphos, Cyprus. The whole family fell ill suffering from symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting and abdominal pains. The youngest child was extremely ill and had to be admitted to hospital in Paphos where he was put on an IV drip. On his return home a stool sample was submitted for testing, and this confirmed that he had become infected with Salmonella.
The family complained of poor hygiene standards within the hotel restaurant. They noticed that food was left in large silver trays for long periods of time, which meant that some of the food was piping hot but some of it was only lukewarm. There were stray cats around the restaurant, scavenging for food and actually jumping up on the tables to eat scraps of food.
Negotiations between Irwin Mitchell and Thomson Holidays resulted in the family being awarded several thousands of pounds in settlement of their claims. The tour operator also agreed to pay their legal costs.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
