Bahia Principe Hotels

The Dominican Republic in the Caribbean is a popular holiday destination, particularly for those looking for an all-inclusive holiday. Irwin Mitchell has been aware of a history of illness outbreaks at Dominican Republic hotels stretching back as far as 1990.
In more recent years illnesses in the Dominican Republic have been on the rise again. Holidaymakers have reported that their holidays have been ruined by illness, often due to failures in food hygiene standards at their hotels.
Worrying examples of very poor food hygiene standards have been witnessed in Dominican Republic hotels.  Rats, crabs, birds and insects have been seen in dining areas.  Cold foods have not been kept chilled, and there have been reports that when lunch service is over some staff simply cover the dishes of food with towels until the evening meal, when the food is uncovered again. Chicken has been noted as uncooked on many occasions.
Irwin Mitchell has acted for over 1,300 clients who stayed at the Bahia Principe Hotel between 1997 and 2009.   This includes over 1,200 unlucky holidaymakers who stayed there in 2007, many of who fell ill with a range of illnesses including Shigella, Giardia, Salmonella and E Coli.
If you have also travelled to any of the hotels mentioned or indeed any other hotel in Dominican Republic, and subsequently suffered from symptoms of gastric illness or sustained an injury, Irwin Mitchell’s travel litigation team, who specialise in dealing with cases of such nature, would like to hear from you.
