Irwin Mitchell was successful in recovering compensation for over 130 holidaymakers who stayed at the Esplanda Hotel in the Dominican Republic. A breakdown in food hygiene procedures at the Hotel resulted in large numbers of the holidaymakers contracting gastric illness.
The holidaymakers travelled with Airtours Limited who admitted that they were liable for the claims and settlement negotiations resulted in Irwin Mitchell recovering good levels of compensation for our clients. Over half of the 130 guests who travelled with Airtours suffered from their illnesses for more than a month and a substantial number were ill for over 6 months.
One of the holidaymakers who went on an all-inclusive holiday to the Esplanda Hotel became ill with diarrhoea, stomach cramps and lethargy. He recovered after 3 weeks and accepted over £3,500 in compensation for his short term illness and ruined holiday.
Damages in the thousands were recovered and all 130 holidaymakers received compensation after their holidays were ruined.
