Sol De Plata Hotel
Irwin Mitchell was successful in recovering compensation for 4 holidaymakers who stayed at the Sol De Plata Hotel in the Dominican Republic. The holidays were booked through tour operator Airtours Plc in August 2000.
The holidaymakers noted that food served as part of their all inclusive package holidays appeared to be reheated and served on more than one occasion and that meat dishes were often served raw and undercooked. Animals were seen in and around the restaurant area, and the water supply was frequently cut off.
All 4 clients became ill suffering with symptoms including diarrhoea, stomach pains and vomiting. A client from Surrey became ill whilst staying at the Sol De Plata Hotel, suffering diarrhoea, abdominal pains, fever and headaches.
On his return to the UK he was diagnosed as suffering from the bacterial illness Campylobacter. Fortunately he made a full recovery after just over 5 weeks recovered damages in settlement of his claim following his ruined holiday. Several thousands pounds of damages were recovered on behalf of the group of 4 holidaymakers.
