Club Atlantica Aegean Blue Hotel, Rhodes 2013

Irwin Mitchell’s leading International Travel Litigation Group is concerned to receive reports of holidaymakers falling ill following a stay at the Club Atlantica Aegean Blue Hotel, Rhodes in August 2013.

One family reported that their five-year-old son became ill with stomach cramps and diarrhoea a few days into their stay at Club Atlantica, which is rated as a five star hotel. The family took their son to a doctor upon their return to the UK, who diagnosed him with Salmonella.

Salmonella is a bacterium found in poultry, eggs, unprocessed milk, meat and water, and is one of the most common causes of food poisoning worldwide. Salmonella infections usually result from a combination of contaminated foods, poor kitchen hygiene and inadequate cooking of food.

Other holidaymakers reported eating “terrible” food, whilst others said that hotel staff left buffet food uncovered for long periods of time.

Another family reported that they had to return their dirty cutlery and crockery numerous times during their seven-day stay at the hotel. There have also been accounts of cockroaches being present in some of the hotel rooms.

If you also travelled to this hotel and have subsequently suffered from symptoms of gastric illness, Irwin Mitchell, who specialise in dealing with cases of such nature, would like to hear from you.
