Starfish Trelawny Beach Hotel

Irwin Mitchell successfully recovered damages of more than £26,000 from tour operator My Travel Limited on behalf of 8 holidaymakers who stayed at the Starfish Trelawny Beach Hotel between December 2004 and January 2005.

The holidaymakers noted a number of issues in relation to food quality at the hotel including food that appeared to be served on more than one occasion and served at the wrong temperature. Insects were seen in and around the food and cutlery and crockery and linen in the restaurant were often dirty.

All 8 holidaymakers within the group became ill suffering with symptoms including abdominal pains, vomiting and diarrhoea after consuming food and drink from the all inclusive facilities at the hotel.

Irwin Mitchell successfully negotiated a settlement totalling £26,500 with the highest settlement of £5000 for the most seriously ill client.  The tour operator also agreed to pay the clients’ legal costs.
