Flamingo Beach Holiday Village

Travel law experts at Irwin Mitchell have revealed their concerns following reports that holidaymakers staying at the Holiday Village Flamingo Beach resort in Lanzarote between June and September 2011 have suffered from illness, with some reportedly having been diagnosed with contracting the serious pathogen, Cryptosporidium.

It has been suggested that guests who have stayed at the site over the summer months have been affected by the problems, raising major concerns over the safety and hygiene standards at the resort.

Irwin Mitchell has previously acted for hundreds of victims who contracted Cryptosporidium, and obtained a landmark judgment for holidaymakers who contracted Cryptosporidium at the San Baulo Hotel in Majorca, many of whom required medical treatment and suffered from long-term illness.  Accordingly, lawyers at Irwin Mitchell who specialise in cases of illness both in the UK and abroad have called for reassurances to be provided that the resort has taken steps to prevent the emergence of any further issues.

Suki Chhokar, a Partner and specialist in the firm’s travel law team, said: “We are deeply concerned by the reports that Cryptosporidium has affected a number of people who have visited the resort in Lanzarote.  Illnesses of this kind can have very serious consequences on sufferers, leaving them with long-term health issues which can have a long-term impact. Because of this, it is vital that hotels take every necessary step to keep their guests safe from harm.

Only a few details have so far emerged in relation to these problems, but we hope that both the tour operator and owners at the resort are able to improve safety and provide reassurances that lessons have been learnt.”

If you also travelled to this Hotel and suffered from gastric illness or if you have suffered from Cryptosporidium on holiday, Irwin Mitchell would like to hear from you as you may be able to claim for your ruined holiday, and also, the pain and suffering caused by the illness that you sustained.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
