Compensation of over £350,000 following holiday illnesses suffered at the Viva Azteca Hotel

Irwin Mitchell have successfully recovered damages totalling over £350,000 from tour operator My Travel after 120 people became ill whilst on holiday at the Viva Azteca Hotel in Cancun, Mexico during July and August 2003.

The holidaymakers noted problems with the poor hygiene standards at the hotel which included undercooked food being served, reports of insects in and around the food and throughout the restaurant and reports of birds landing on the tables and flying in and out of the restaurant.

Mr Reed was diagnosed with Shigella a bacterial infection which has led to long term health problems.
