Horse Riding Accident in France

Horse Riding Accident, 7,965 Compensation Awarded

Our client was on holiday in France with her family and, on 8 August 2000, took her young son to a local riding centre for a horse ride. Visitors to the centre were allowed to visit the stables. Our client went into one of the stables with her family to see the horses when one of the horses lunged out at her and bit her on the neck. The horse was stabled in a box with the top half of the door open and no bars or other measures to prevent the horse from putting its head out. She required treatment for her injuries in France and then on returning home to the UK. She was left with a scar to her neck.

Liability was contested by the owners of the riding centre and court proceedings were issued in France against the owners of the riding centre and against their insurers. Following a Hearing in France, Judgment was entered for the Claimant who was awarded total compensation of 7,965 €.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
