£55,000 recovered for motorist involved in RTA in France

Irwin Mitchell were instructed by a gentleman to assist him in his claim for compensation as a result of his accident in Lyon, France in September 2007.

Our client was travelling on a motorway coming into Lyon. A caravan jack-knifed in front of his vehicle and our client managed to successfully avoid a collision with the caravan. However a lorry driving behind our client failed to take the necessary action to avoid both the caravan and our client's vehicle, and as a result collided into the rear of our client's vehicle.

Our client was taken to a local hospital in Lyon. As a result of the collision our client sustained a broken nose, broken right arm, numbness in his right thumb and two fingers, concussion which has resulted in headaches and nausea and fracture to his neck. Upon returning to the UK, our client continued to receive treatment from his GP and local hospital.

The Defendant admitted liability however repeatedly disputed the value of our client's claim. We wanted to achieve the best possible result for our client and believed the best course of action would be to list the case for trial at Court.  The trial was listed for the 5th May 2011 however; on the 27th April 2011 we managed to secure a settlement for our client of £55,000. Both the client and Irwin Mitchell are extremely pleased with this settlement.
