Pedestrian Injured in Ireland Receives €90,000

Our client was a pedestrian standing on a pavement in Ireland. A car being driven by a foreign driver rolled forward unexpectedly, pinning our client against a small wall. Our client was in extreme pain, his two legs being crushed against the wall, and his wife, who witnessed the accident, was shaken.

The driver of the vehicle, an American citizen on holiday in Ireland, admitted liability straight away and gave her insurance details. Responsibility for the accident was confirmed by the insurers of the rented car.

As a result of the accident, our client suffered whiplash to his neck and cervical spine, a major contusion and deep laceration injury to his right shin leaving a permanent scar. He also suffered significant soft tissue injury in his right knee which is likely to give him problems in the future and may require surgery, as well as mild anxiety and sleep disturbance for the first few months following the accident.

Our client was very happy with the settlement of €90,000 which we recovered on his behalf after some tough negotiations.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
