Pedestrian hit on crossing in Italy

On 13 July 2007, Miss Harris was on holiday in Italy and was walking across a pedestrian crossing.  A motorbike rider lost control of his vehicle after speeding around a bend and although he saw Miss Harris, it was too late and he was unable to avoid hitting her on the crossing.

As a result of the incident, Miss Harris sustained a sternal fracture, soft tissue injury to her cervical spine, injuries to both feet and various cuts and abrasions.

We proceeded with a claim on behalf of Miss Harris by locating the Italian Insurers for the vehicle and subsequently locating the UK Claims Handlers for those Insurers, to enable us to deal with the case through the UK Insurers, as is the permitted procedure under the 4th Motor Directive.

After lengthy negotiations, we secured damages for Miss Harris in the sum of £8,000 for the injuries she sustained.
