£25,000 for Jersey pedestrian hit on the way to work
Irwin Mitchell has successfully settled the claim of Ms P, a pedestrian knocked over by a car in Jersey in April 2008.
Our client is a successful banking industry professional, and was seriously injured whilst on her way to work. Ms P was crossing a road on a zebra crossing, when the Defendant’s vehicle failed to stop and collided into her. Our client was thrown into the air and suffered multiple injuries to her shoulder, thumb, knee and neck, requiring physiotherapy, pain killing injections and surgery.
Jersey is a foreign jurisdiction to England and Wales, and our International Travel Team submitted Ms P’s claim to the Defendant’s insurers. Liability was admitted promptly, and Irwin Mitchell then gathered the necessary medical evidence required to value our client’s multiple injuries. One of the medical experts recommended that our client have pain killing injections to manage her shoulder symptoms, and Irwin Mitchell then secured an interim payment from the Defendant’s insurers to fund this.
Although Jersey is a foreign jurisdiction, personal injury claims are valued in a similar way to England and Wales. Our International Travel Department are experienced in dealing with claims in the Channel Islands and entered settlement negotiations with the Defendant’s insurers. The claim soon settled for just under £25,000.
