Road Traffic Accident Menorca
£77,678 Recovered following road traffic accident in Menorca
On 18th September 2001, our client was a passenger in a hire car being driven by her husband in Menorca, Spain, along the PMV-7107 road between Mahon and La Mula. Our client’s husband drove the vehicle on the wrong side of the road and collided with another car.
Our client sustained a fracture dislocation of the C6/C7 discs in her spine, with forward displacement in addition to a Monteggia fracture dislocation of her right elbow and forearm. She attended the Sondurat Hospital in Mallorca where she underwent surgery to stabilise the injury to her spine and her right arm was put in plaster.
On her return to the UK our client received treatment at the Manor Hospital in Biddenham and underwent further surgery at the Bedford Hospital, followed by a lengthy period of rehabilitation by both physiotherapists and occupational therapists. She was then referred to a consultant in pain relief at the Bedford Hospital who diagnosed complex regional pain syndrome.
Prior to the accident the Claimant was working as a self-employed complementary health practitioner/holistic therapist. As a result of her injuries she was unable to return to work until November 2002, at which point she returned on a part-time basis. However, as a result of the injuries sustained she was ultimately forced to give up this employment and seek an alternative career.
Liability was admitted by the Defendant and Irwin Mitchell settled the claim for £77,678.

"We were very happy with the outcome of our case, especially as we were initially offered nothing from the Tour Operator. Irwin Mitchell were very professional throughout and we are very happy with the outcome."
