Road Traffic Accident in Nevis

Our clients were on holiday in Nevis, one of the islands in the Antilles archipelago. They were travelling in a hire car when it was involved in a road traffic accident. They were hit in the rear by a vehicle owned by the company Cable & Wireless and driven by one of their employees.

Compensation Claim

There were four people travelling in the hire car: two children and their parents. As a result of the accident all four sustained personal injuries and associated financial loss.

The Defendant’s insurers initially refused to concede liability. Once liability was resolved, offers were made to settle three of our clients’ claims for a total of EC$ 4,750 (just over £1,000); no offer was made at all to the fourth claimant.

Proceedings were issued in the local courts and the claims were finally settled before trial for a total of EC$88,194 (approximately £22,910) which settlement included a figure of EC$15,000 (approximately £3,250) for the fourth claimant.
